Shakara Ledard short bio

Shakara Ledard has recently segued from the world of fashion into acting with her roles in the independent feature Prey for Rock and Roll, opposite Gina Gershon, Touchstone Picture’s Raising Helen for director Gary Marshall, with Kate Hudson and John Corbett and in Immortal Entertainment’s feature film Blood Money, which she stars in opposite Busta Rhymes and Xzibit. Shakara can next be seen in November 2004 in New Line Cinema’s After the Sunset directed by Brett Ratner and starring Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek and Woody Harrelson. Following this she stars in The Defender opposite Dolph Lundgren who also directed the film, and opposite Marlon Wayans in Behind the Smile, written and directed by Damon Wayans. Shakara burst onto the fashion scene in the winter of 2000, when she appeared in the coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She went on to appear in the magazine for three consecutive years and in 2001 she was the May model in their top selling Swimsuit Calendar. Shakara most recently appeared in Sports Illustrated’s 2005 Swimsuit Issue. Following her Sports Illustrated debut, Shakara took the fashion world by storm modeling for numerous national and international advertising campaigns including Victoria’s Secret, Loreal, Levi’s, and Liz Claiborne. Be sure to watch out for Shakara’s hot new clothing line ROXS scheduled to hit the stores spring 2005. Shakara’s groundbreaking designs which are designed and created by Shakara are hip, funky, and fearless. Shakara Ledard was featured opposite Justin Timberlake in the music video for his song “Like I Love You” from his solo debut album Justified. She was also featured in the music video for Usher’s Grammy Award winning song “U Remind Me” and Babyface’s “There She Goes.”
