Marta Sanchez is a Spanish female vocalist. She was born on May 8, 1966 in Madrid. Her father, Antonio Sanchez Camporro, was an opera singer. Marta began her musical career with the band "Cristal Oskuro", but in a short time she was discovered by Tino Azores, a sound technician for Ole-Ole, another spanish band. It was in 1985, that Marta became the lead singer for Ole-Ole, and she achieved fame. In fact, Marta has been regarded as one of the Spanish sex symbols of the 80s, a time when the country was getting rid of the traditional moral values of Catholicism. Her nude photographs in the "Interviu" glossy magazine marked a whole generation of teenagers. Her first hit with Ole-Ole was "Lilli Marlen", a spanish adaptation of the popular World War II german love song. Other hits like "Bailando sin salir de casa" and "Con solo una mirada" followed with the group. She remained with the band until 1991, and then decided to pursue a solo career. In 1993, Marta releases her first solo album "Mujer", and her first single "Desesperada", both in Spain and Latin America. Her next album "Mi mundo" released in 1995 covers more mature themes in society, such as AIDS. In 1996, Marta recorded "Obsession", a song for the movie Curdled by Quentin Tarantino. Her third solo album "Azabache" is released in 1997, and with the collaboration of "Slash" from Guns N' Roses the album is an exquisite mixture of funk, soul, rock and pop all in one. Marta Sanchez releases her next album "Desconocida" in 1998 and also sings with Andrea Bocelli in the song "Vivo por ella". Her most recent album, "Soy Yo" was released in 2002.
